You’re beautiful always but you make a little dress and high heels look fuckin’ spectacular and when your face looks just… like… that, honey, you take my breath away.

Okay, gotta admit, I’ve been thinking of reading this one for awhile now, but I kept delaying it for some reason. And I’m so freaking glad that I finally got to read it, thanks to our Pass the Parcel game. Seriously, I don’t know why I didn’t read this one sooner before seeing as I’m a HUGE fan of Kristen Ashley. Anyways, this was The most heartbreaking book of KA I’ve ever read, and The Gamble and Wild and Free doesn’t even come close to that, even though they were really very emotional books. And no Rock Chick Regret doesn’t count, cause I’m still pissed about that one, though I’ve somehow forgiven The Golden Dynasty.

Anyways, back to the story, this was a fabulous book, like most of KA’s other books. The romance was off the charts, a complete fairy tale romance where an average normal girl falls in love with a popular football player, her fantasy man. The sex was hot and steamy and the book contained a fair amount of amusing moments. Though what made the book so much fabulous were the back stories of Kia, Celeste, Luci and of course, Sam. Even in the end where Kia was telling Celeste she was pregnant, it was such a joyous and happy moment and I was actually crying! Damn I’ve grown soft. (By the way, Talia Celeste Cooper is a kick ass name!)

“Seein’ you sittin’ alone that night after dinner, so beautiful, so fuckin’ beautiful, speakin’ to you only for you to turn and face me and see you had tears in your eyes. Those tears, Christ,” he bit off the last word on a snarl. “Never in my life… never felt that. I didn’t fuckin’ know you and seein’ those tears in your eyes fucking undid me.”

Kia was a kind, soft spoken, classy yet a small town girl, who’ve been through hell in her life and Sam, well Sam was Sam. He was a protective, strong, gentle and loving man who has his own demons from the past. And it was really very beautiful to see these two tortured souls find each other, but most importantly find love in each other.

After making a bad decision when she was very young, Kia Clementine finds herself in hell. Then, suddenly, within the time it takes for a shotgun to blast, her hell changes. Completely. Then out-of-the-blue she sees Sampson Cooper, her celebrity crush. A man the whole world knows is decent. A man the world knows is loyal. A man the world knows is good. All of these very unlike her now dead husband.

He’s sitting at a table right next to hers. And she catches his eye.

Terrified of the interest Sam shows in her, Kia finds the courage to go out with him. Not long after, she shares her dark secrets and Sam shares that he’ll stop at nothing to gain her trust.

As Sam leads Kia to heaven, Kia realizes that Sam is living his own hell. But although he gives her beauty and she gives him everything, he withholds his trust.

Even with all the beauty Sam shows her, Kia wants it all. But Sam forces Kia to make a heartbreaking decision and only she can decide. It’s all or nothing.

Anyways, if you’re like me and thinking of reading this book but aren’t sure, then I’ll say this: learn from my mistakes and go get the book and read it NOW, or whenever you get the time to. Seriously, you won’t regret it. Now, I’m off to seeing which book is next in the series.

Anywhere is heaven as long as it’s an anywhere with you.

Knight (Unfinished Hero #1) by Kristen Ashley

You don’t fuck Knight. No way. Knight fucks you.

From a New York Times bestselling author: When Knight meets gorgeous Anya, he knows she is too innocent for a man like him, but he’ll do anything to bring her pleasure… A sizzling romance with over 16,000 five-star ratings on Goodreads!

‘Knight’ isn’t your average sweet, romantic story with flowers and rainbow and sunshine. It’s KA’s improvised version of 50 Shades of Grey. It’s a story of a good girl falling madly and helplessly in love with the ultimate bad boy, the ultimate alpha male. And lord heavens, what a story it was!

“Um, I don’t know your name but –”

“Knight,” he stated, cutting me off.

“Right, Mr. Knight –”

“No, Knight,” he interrupted me again…

“That’s what I said, Knight,” I told him. “Now, Mr. Knight –”

He came out of that door with his overcoat and turned his eyes to me.

I interrupted myself then when they hit me and I clamped my mouth closed.

“No, not Mr. Knight. Knight. My name is Knight.”

 “Your Christian name is Knight?”

“If that means first name, yeah,”

“With a ‘K’?”

He looked down at me as he opened the door, “Yeah, babe, with a ‘K’.”

“That’s an unusual name,” I muttered.

“Yeah,” he agreed, dragging me down the luxuriant hall toward the elevators.

“I kind of like it,”

“I can die happy,”

He was dangerous. He was powerful. He was sexy. He was domineering and he was also controlling. He wasn’t a hero, he was an anti – unfinished – hero. He was also a man of few words, but when he spoke he leaves you breathless.

“Wars fought over a face like this,” he murmured like he was talking to himself, my heart stopped beating and his thumbs moved lightly across my cheeks. “A man would work himself into the ground for it, go down to his knees to beg to keep it, endure torture to protect it, take a bullet for it,” his eyes came to mine, “poison his brother to possess a face like this.”

It was at this time when I finally stopped drooling, shut my mouth closed, swallowed hard and blinked my eyes a few times to gain some semblance that I decided to add Kristen Ashley to my list of favorite authors.

Knight Sebring was hot and he was terrifying:

He came at me, fast. I retreated, not as fast. I hit something, went into freefall and my bottom landed sideways in a chair, back to a cushioned armrest, legs over the other one. Knight leaned over me, one hand to the top back of the chair, one hand in the seat beside me, face an inch from mine.

God, God, God, he was scaring the hell out of me.

Why was he angry? At me!

“You put on that dress, didn’t you?” he whispered and it was sinister.

“What?” I whispered back.

“You… do not… leave your house… dressed like that… without being on the arm of a man like me,” he ground out on a terrifying staccato with scary pauses.

“A man like you?” I whispered.

“A man who’d shoot another man in the face he even looked at you. Yeah, Anya, a man… like… me.”

Knight Sebring was a lighter version and, of course, a better version of Christian Grey. He had absolutely no qualms about letting Anya touch him and neither did he made Anya sign a long detailed contract about what he can and cannot do to her in the bedroom. So in other words, he wasn’t weird or creepy and didn’t have those strange psychological issues. He, of course, explained to Anya what she can expect from him in the bedroom and she agreed to it. So even though it made me pause in disgust when he made Anya call him “daddy”, I just shrugged off and moved forward cause it simply wasn’t any of my business. I mean come on, they’re two consenting adults who’re perfectly capable of making their own decisions and I refuse to lower myself by judging them for their sexual preferences.

Anya Gage was a strong, hardworking and independent lady who went through her own trials of life. But those trials only made her stronger and she was still sweet, loving and compassionate.

There was a concern of Knight’s profession. Truthfully by the time his profession was revealed, I was already in love with his character. So when I came to know what he did for a living, it broke my heart a little. But then we’re reminded why exactly he was an anti-hero instead of being a hero. And it was because Knight does not follow rules, he wasn’t a good law-abiding man. He was the kind of man who looks in the eyes of law and shows his middle finger while making his own law and his own rules.

After knowing his full story, it made me fall in love with him all the way more. Because to me, his reasons for choosing his profession were more important to me than to think that what he does for a living is unacceptable by law. We talk about protecting innocent, decent women all the times. But what about women who aren’t decent in the eyes of a respectable society? What about prostitutes? Just because of what they do for a job, just because they’re prostitutes doesn’t mean they do not need or deserve protection. Of course, they need it and of course, they deserve it. And that protection Knight gave to them.

And it was at that moment that I understood that he takes the meaning of his name all to the different levels of seriousness. And he owns his name, quite proudly, if I might add!

“It’s all I know, Anya. Protection. I was born then I was raised to be a shield.”

Anya Gage has learned that to get anything good in life, you have to work for it. She has no expectations, no dreams.

Then she finds herself at a party where she doesn’t want to be and she meets Knight.

Knight Sebring knows who he is, what he wants and what he likes. And he gets it. But he never expected something as sweet as Anya Gage to wander into his bedroom during a party he did not expect to be having to borrow his phone.

Knight tries to leave Anya to the life she deserves of white picket fences and a man who watches football on Sundays – good, normal and clean. But when Anya comes to his nightclub and finds herself in a situation, he knows someone has to look after her, he can’t fight it anymore and he decides that man will be him.

Knight teaches Anya that, just as with the bad, in life you should also expect the good. And he teaches her this by giving it to her.

But Knight has a dark past and just as he desires Anya for exactly who she is, he fears when she finds out exactly the man he has become and always intends to be, she’ll leave him for good, normal and clean.

CAN YOU KEEP A SECRET? by Sophie Kinsella

Confession: I’m not a fan of Chick Lit, never was, but after reading this book I’m searching for some more Chick Lit books (and would be really grateful if you’ve got some in mind and would like to recommend me).

Warning: Do not, and I mean absolutely do not even think of reading this book in public. (Believe me, I did and am regretting it big time!)

Title: Can You Keep a Secret?

Author: Sophie Kinsella

Published: December 27th, 2005

Rating: 4 Stars

This book starts off with our heroine, Emma Corrigan finding herself in a completely hilariously humiliating situation when she unintentionally spills all her dirty little secrets to the stranger sitting beside her during a plane ride, who later turns out to be her company’s CEO and her boss, Jack Harper.

For a first few pages, I tried to keep a straight face while reading this, swear on my life, I did but after that, I just couldn’t help myself and ended up laughing my ass off in a room full of people (I was in my class). I mean how could you especially with this book in your hand?

As I finish speaking I plant the can firmly in the middle of the desk, reach for the ring pull and, with a cool smile, snap it back.

It’s like a volcano erupting.

Fizzy cranberry-flavoured drink explodes in a whoosh out of the can, landing on the desk, drenching the papers and blotters in lurid red liquid … and oh no, please no … spattering all over Doug Hamilton’s shirt.

And this was just the beginning of it. ‘Can You Keep a Secret?’ is a hilarious rollercoaster ride that will make you forget about your troubles and leave you snorting, giggling and laughing so hard until your stomach hurts, your face is red with tears of mirth rolling down your face. To me, it was the most humorous book I ever read (no kidding).

It was a book about an ordinary girl, Emma, who is just like us or me at least. She’s awkward with her own insecurities and lots and lots of secrets. Secrets from her boyfriend, secrets from her friends, secrets from her family. I know some of you must be thinking, ‘damn this chick sounds stupid and a big fat lier’. But believe me, she’s not. She’s such a cute and innocent girl who only wants to please everyone around her. Okay not everyone, at least not her colleague, Artemis, but in my opinion, that girl was a bitch with a capital B. (Sshhh don’t tell this to anyone but our little Emma sometimes water Artemis’s stupid spider plant with orange juice, just to serve her right…)

This book deals with Emma’s issues with her family and colleagues and how she overcomes those issues and her insecurities. It narrates a story of how Emma comes to a firm conclusion realizing that you don’t always have to lie to your loved ones just to please them and keep them happy, you can be brutally honest with them because sometimes your honesty would help them more than it’d please them.

The only factor that disappointed me was its romance. If you know me, then you’d know that I really really like, no scratch that, love romance in my books. A romance that is dark and intense and passionate and sweet and hot and fulfilling. A romance that has the capability to touch the core of my heart, bring a smile on my face and make me sigh in bliss and make me wish to the God above to have that kind of romance in my life for real. (Yeah, yeah, I know I’m a sucker for sappy romance!) This book had its own kind of romance, don’t get me wrong, but it just wasn’t my type.

Meet Emma Corrigan, a young woman with a huge heart, an irrepressible spirit, and a few little secrets: Secrets from her boyfriend: I’ve always thought Connor looks a bit like Ken. As in Barbie and Ken. Secrets from her mother: I lost my virginity in the spare bedroom with Danny Nussbaum while Mum and Dad were downstairs watching Ben-Hur. Secrets she wouldn’t share with anyone in the world: I have no idea what NATO stands for. Or even what it is. Until she spills them all to a handsome stranger on a plane. At least, she thought he was a stranger.…Until Emma comes face-to-face with Jack Harper, the company’s elusive CEO, a man who knows every single humiliating detail about her…

Overall ‘Can You Keep a Secret?’ was a really nice, easy and light read. I’d highly recommend this book in case you want to lift up your mood or if simply want a quick and easy read.

DOMINIC (Slater Brothers #1) by L.A. Casey

Have you ever got a feeling when you start reading a book that its gonna be one of your favorites?

Title: Dominic

Series: Slater Brothers #1

Author: L.A. Casey

Release Date: March 17th, 2014

Rating: 5 stars

From the very first page of this book, I was hooked. From the first encounter of Dominic and Bronagh, I knew I was going to love it. And I was not disappointed.

“She doesn’t like people?” Dark-haired twin snorted as he asked, “Is there something wrong with her?”

I might be a quiet person and liked to be ignored but I wasn’t a pushover; if someone pissed me off, you could bet your arse I would speak my mind to them. My mind didn’t have a filter either. I tended to say what I was thinking without thinking.

“I’m sure there are many things wrong with me accordin’ to you, but I assure you pretty boy, me hearin’ is perfectly fine,” I said aloud without turning around.

See? This is what I’m talking about! I absolutely adored this book. L.A. Casey did a fine job writing this one. This book made me grin, laugh, giggle, cry and angry all at the same time. This book is so full of entertainment and fun that you won’t find a single moment boring here. But then again being with Dominic would do that to you. He’s a typical Alpha male, domineering, protective and so very possessive, to the point of near obsession, but only in a good way, not Edward Cullen’s way. At times I found myself overly pissed at him and also overwhelmed by him. But he’s also loving, caring, gentle and a real sweetheart.

Dominic laughed and cuddled me to him. “I live you, pretty girl.”

I pulled back and stared at him. “You live me?” I questioned.

He had his eyes closed and was drifting off, so I shook him.

“You live me? You said the word live, Dominic,” I repeated when he blinked his eyes open.

He nodded and lazily smiled again.

God, he was so gorgeous.

“I more than like you but don’t feel near love yet, so I put the word love and like together and got live so I live you. I’m in live with you, pretty girl.”

Now you get what I was talking about? You just can’t help but live Dominic, that is how he is. I also liked Bronagh a lot, she wasn’t some Damsel in distress. Oh no, she was far from that. Just because she’s a loner and don’t like to interact with people doesn’t mean that she’ll let people walk all over her. She’s an Irish beauty with a phat arse (apparently ‘fat’ with “ph” instead of “f” means sexy to Dominic, so do not be offended) and a bad mouth, that she wouldn’t hesitate to use when she feels the need to.

Another thing that I liked about this book was the sense of loyalty the Slater brothers feel for each other. They’ll kill and die for one another without any hesitation. But personally, my favorite character in the entire series was Kane. Why? I’ll tell you that in my other book review, i.e., “Kane” (Slater Brothers #3).

After a car accident killed her parents when she was a child, Bronagh Murphy chose to box herself off from people in an effort to keep herself from future hurt. If she doesn’t befriend people, talk to them or acknowledge them in any way they leave her alone just like she wants.

When Dominic Slater enters her life, ignoring him is all she has to do to get his attention. Dominic is used to attention, and when he and his brothers move to Dublin, Ireland for family business, he gets nothing but attention. Attention from everyone except the beautiful brunette with a sharp tongue.

Dominic wants Bronagh and the only way he can get to her, is by dragging her from the boxed off corner she has herself trapped in the only way he knows how… by force.

Dominic wants her, and what Dominic wants, Dominic gets.

I personally loved this book and recommend it to you too. If you’re into YA romance with a lot of humor and action then I’d say go for it, but if you’re a prude and don’t like swear words or violence, then heed to my warning and do not read it.

My Bookworm Journey

Okay so this is my first blog post and in here I’m going to introduce myself and share my story of how I discovered my love for books.

My bookworm journey started when I was in my 11th grade visiting my grandma from my mother’s side on summer vacations. Okay so long story short I was bored and had nothing to do. I was just checking the cupboards in the room I was staying at and found some old newspapers, magazines and a stack of books. I ignored the newspapers, pulled out a few magazines but quickly lost the interest in that too. I was curious about the stack of books so when I checked them I found they were story books in my native language Hindi. I tried reading a story and was quickly engrossed in it. So a few days passed and my days went by quickly, I was no longer bored but instead was enjoying reading the books. When the time came to leave my uncle came to see us off. We’re about to leave when my uncle came over to me and asked me if there’s something that I’d like to get for our journey, I was thinking of the small bookstore that we passed by on our way and without thinking I blurted out, ‘A book’. My uncle was confused, clearly by ‘something’ he meant snacks or drinks for our journey, so I asked him to take me to that bookstore. It wasn’t far just a few feet away and there I got my first novel “If It’s Not Forever” by Durjoy Dutta, which I immensely enjoyed. Two years went by and I was busy with my friends and studies and forgot all about my passion for reading. After I graduated high school, I still had a few months before I start college. I was sick of spending my days on facebook and youtube, so when a high school friend suggested me to start reading I quickly began searching online for some books. I found an app called Wattpad and spent about 2 years reading there. After that I found Audible and was thoroughly enjoying listening to audiobooks, so I left wattpad and started reading on Kindle or online. Soon I discovered my passion for writing and discussing the books that I read. And so I decided to start book blogging and now here I am.

In this blog I’ll be discussing books with friends I hope to make on WordPress who share my interest in books. The common genres that I’ll be discussing are Romance, Paranormal, Fantasy, Science Fiction, and Young Adult. You can expect my posts on weekends, that would be once a week.

I love hot tattoed bad boys and sexy dominant Alpha males. Add there independent fearless women with a backbone with a bit of drama, humor, and love, and I’ll have a perfect story to read.

Besides reading and writing, I also love horror movies, strawberry lemonade, and chocolates. Because Aideen Collins (from Slater Brothers series by L.A. Casey) was damn right when she said that you could end a world war with chocolates!
